Animal Photos

The animals lesson was the most successful. The students really enjoyed the process and loved working clay. They also had a great time designing their animals. Here are some examples of their work in progress as well as a few final projects.

Here is where I demonstrated how to mold the clay and how it gets softer the more you work with it. We used Sculpey Polymer clay.

This student was very proud of his sculpture and wanted to show it off. He also loved to tell you all about his animal.

This girl had a little trouble getting getting started because she had been absent the week we worked on our animal's designs. She is a little timid as well, so I needed to work with her to get her out of her shell and provide her options for what she could do for her animal.

After they finished their animals, Mrs. Black baked the sculptures so that they students could paint their animals. The students really enjoyed this part, especially since their animals didn't have to look like real animals and they could use creative paint colors.

As I mentioned in the lesson post for the week we painted the animals, some of the animals broke. Here are some examples of how the students coped with the situation and painted the pieces. We were able to use superglue once they were dry and most, if not all, of the animals were able to be pieced together.
